UPDATE

Saw neurosurgeon today - operation is confirmed for sometime in next 2 months. Anyone had the endoscopic transphennoidal procedure? Apparently my nostrils and sinus cavaties are large enough for the cameras! Perhaps we should invite the BBC!!!

Thanks for the links to the operation. It actually doesn't look too scary (when being done on someone else that is)!
What about afterwards? Anyone know of consequences with regard to relief of headaches and other symptoms?
Just trying to get an insight on what to expect - good and bad. :?

i think that depends on whether they get it all out and what type it is.

in my case i didn't have headaches so cannot comment on that other than to say that i had read that people said their headaches eased post surgery.

some symptoms improved.
eg i found it was easier to move and was no longer sufferening such bad joint pains and no longer needed a walking stick, all of which was very liberating.
some swellings went down but certainly no where near my 'pretumour normal' state.
energy levels are still way down.

post surgery was surprisingly pain free. (but keep taking those paracetamols; i refused them once saying that i was ok and was soon calling the nurse for help).

take a notebook and pen in, in case they want to monitor your fluid balance. i made a note of time and quantity drunk and peed and that helped the nurses to keep my record up to date and more accurate.

good luck

good luck.

UPDATE

Had operation on 25/05/2011. Many thanks to the Neurosurgeons and support staff at Royal Hallamshire, Sheffield. You were fantastic, informative, supportive to me and mine and generally brilliant. I was amazed, and still am, about how good I felt - so good that you were able to discharge me only 2 days after removing the tumour.

Trying to take it easy until I see the Endocrine team for tests next week!
