Any experience with Tostran

Any experience with Tostran

Postby MikeDCross » Thu Apr 07, 2016 7:54 am

HI,

My consultant has taken me off Nebido, as it is not controlling my T levels, but is being very successful at thickening my blood.

When my blood as resumed a normal consistency, she wants me to use Tostran Gel, with 3g, giving 30mg / day of T.

Does any one have any experience with this?

Thanks

I've used Testogel and Tostran - if I've got it the right way around, although they are both the same gel, the Testogel was in a fixed sized sachet and the Tostran was a pump which gives out a measured dose. The advantage of the pump being you can adjust the dose size.

I haven't had any major adverse reactions to taking T so for me the gel and the Nebido injections have both worked fine. I used the gel for the first year of replacement - I got on fine with the gel other than it eventually really irritated my skin. I'm sure that for me it gave me a very level dose of T unlike the injection which puts you pretty high initially with a gradual reduction as you use the T up. So no peaks and troughs with the gel I'm certain of that.

Health-wise, I felt just the same on gel as with Nebido, with the possible exception of the last couple of weeks of my Nebido duration when I maybe don't feel quite so 'lively'.

The other issue with gel is the need to keep the skin away from a partner to avoid giving them a dose of T as well, but I didn't have an issue with this personally as I put it on first thing in the morning and 5 days of the week I then go to work...otherwise just put a t-shirt on to cover up whilst it dries on the skin, which doesn't take long.

If it weren't for the skin irritation, I'd probably still be on the gel.

Thanks, one day my blood will be thin enough that I can start taking the Tostran.....when they will be is anyone's guess, my last injections was the start of Feb-16, and blood tests last week show that I have low T (again), but thick blood, and until I have normal blood, I can not start the T....and my consultant has little idea what is happening.
