proposed changes to sick notes

proposed changes to sick notes

Postby plum » Sat Nov 19, 2011 2:45 pm

just heard on the radio about about the proposed changes whereby GPs are not going to be allowed to write sick notes... if the 'independent company' that will be issuing them is anything like ATOS then we will all be declared fit to work. and then it will cost the taxpayer even more overall becasue everyone will appeal and have to be paid while waiting.

(i appealed their decision in february 2011 and am still waiting for tribunal, which may not happen until january 2012 apparently).

The BMA are not at all happy about this move as they are of the opinion that any independent authority doing this are going to be far tooo stringent.
What next from this government there going to be law passed outlawing illness all together. :(
