Hello

Hello

Postby sillyyak » Tue Dec 18, 2012 1:11 pm

My name's Cassie, i had an MRI scan in October of this year where they found a 6mm something or another on my pituitary gland. I am now awaiting an appointment for a more specific MRI. I went for my first endocrine appointment on Thursday where my specialist (Royal Hospital Belfast) asked loads of questions. I had bloods for everything imaginable taken and was injected with a synthetic growth hormone. Then half an hour later they took more bloods. I've now got a 2 litre bottle to fill over a 24 hour period, starting tomorrow.
After that, who knows....there's no 'meet and greet' topic on this forum so didn't know where to post this to say, "hi".

Lucky you having that detected before it grew any larger. Was it by chance that it was picked up or did you have definite symptoms that led to the MRI scan? Hope all goes well.

I had the MRI scan because of my cervical spondilitis, it was by pure chance that they found the lesion. I went for a more specific MRI 1st June and have a second appt with an endocrinologist 4 July. Presumably, I will then find out a) what it is, b) if it's grown c)treatment of some kind.

I have just read Jackie's story in the latest pituitary life, she too had strange symptoms after a bash on the head. I have been telling my docs for the last 3 years it all started when I bashed my head. Am taking the article with me in July. In the last month I've been more disoriented, nauseous, confused, 'vague'. My head feels like there's a permanent pillow shoved in it.

I am on medication for permanent dizziness (I don't take them, I'm waiting till July 4th). I am getting increasingly concerned about premature senility/dementia symptoms, is this normal?

Does anyone know if there's a support group in Northern Ireland?

Thanks for listening. :?

Can anyone let me know if any of these are related to a pituitary disorder?
Pain in head, crushing between temples sensation.
Abnormally painful feet when walking even short distances
Confusion
Hallucinations (mild)
Forgetfulness
Spinning sensation if moving eyes too quickly
Dizziness
Mood swings
Depression
Anxiety
Muscle pain
Getting drunk on one lager shandy, no joke. Even a small amount of alcohol sends me doolally and, as yet, I'm on no meds!

Hi Cassie,

Just reading your hello postings and was wondering what was the diagnosis
and has the problems stabilised since. Good team in the Royal hospital, Belfast.
