Hello Everyone,
My name is Caroline and I have recently been found to have an empty sella which I think is as a result of a bad accident about 23 years ago where I suffered quite a bad head injury. I have also had Hashimotos Disease for 30 years which has now destroyed my thyroid. The empty sella is now affecting my pituitary gland which in turn is causing the adrenal glands to malfunction. I have just started on hydrocortisone[15mg] daily and also take 300mg of thyroxine daily. In the past during major heart surgery I suffered Diabetes Insipidus and nearly didn't make it due to extremely low blood pressure and dangerously low potassium but I'm still here. I have a number of rare medical conditions and this last diagnosis knocked me for six a bit. I was wondering if anyone else has this condition as I wonder if its quite common. Will the hydrocortisone make a difference as I feel quite ill most of the time and have for years. I have also gained about 3 stone in 4 months and don't like being fat. I know my diet is ok as my daughter is a dietician. I see an endo nurse next week for the first time so I hope to understand more then.I will stop now as I will bore you all rigid.
Caroline . By the way I'm 53 years old so is it an age thing.
