IGF-1 & Eyes?

Hi,

Does anyone know if excessive Growth Hormone (e.g. IGF-1) affects the size of the eyes?

I have seen comments & been told by my endocrinologist that with acromegaly can affect all soft tissue, and given long enough time the bone structure as well.
But does this include eyeballs as well, or they immune to its effect?

I know that it is probably affecting the tissue around my eyes, as people often complain that they cant see my eyes, and express astonishment that I can actually see them "through those narrow slits", and that my eyes aren't closed. For my recent passport renewal, the PO official who was checking the new photo, had to write a note on the form, that my eyes were open in the picture, to ensure that Passport Office wouldn't reject the picture.

Regards,

Marc

hi marc,
i have come across this while researching Acromegaly for myself. It is very rare but does effect people with ACRO. its called Extraocular Muscle Enlargement could this be what you have. with regard to eyeball enlargement A most distinctive sign is bulging eyeballs, termed exophthalmos, caused by swelling of the tissues behind the eyes.
