New Acromegaly Consensus Statement

Postby member_41389 » Mon May 04, 2020 7:41 pm

Hi
For information and possible discussion I found this https://orbi.uliege.be/handle/2268/244178. The authors include Prof. Wass and it seems quite changed from the earlier version (from 2013).
I'm just trying to understand what's set out at the moment but think that the stance on Pegvisomant is changed and the possible use of Paseirotide also seems more prominent.
Take care

Hi Tim
Well spotted
Thank you for this link.
I've downloaded the paper for closer reading.
I note that they added thyroid cancer as a risk as well as colon cancer.
best wishes

Hi Plum
The paper seems to be a commentary on https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7136157/ which is interesting.
I was surprised to see the comment about cancer overtaking cardiac problems and also the bit about vertibral fractures and the fact BMD using DEXA is misleading. There's all sorts of changes from the previous version and I'm not sure that it's all been caught up on by the endos at the coal-face.
Take care
