Fluctuating Growth Hormone Levels

Fluctuating Growth Hormone Levels

Postby TeacherDi » Fri Sep 09, 2011 1:12 pm

I have been injecting growth hormone for about 3 years. It took at least 12months before I began to see ny levels increase. This was in part ,due to the fact, I was at the time also taking oral oestrogen, which I now know affected absorbtion of the growth hormone. Almost immediately after I switched to patches the GH levels increased. I have then, GH wise, remained relatively stable for about 18mths. I had even got to the stage of thinking about applying for promotions at work, I had certainly seen a distinct alteration in my body shape, for the better. However over about the last 8 weeks I have begun to feel rotten again, the old symptomss creeping up on me,tiredness, lack of concentration, gritting my teeth, weight gain and changes in body shape etc. I wondered if anybody else has suffered this apparent reversal in fortune with GH? I am going to see the specialist nurse on 23rd September to pick up my prescription and get my bloods taken, but just wanted to know if this is 'normal' to fluctuate or not? I am taking a relatively high dose of 0.9. and am if I am honest worried sick. I really can't bear the thought of going back to the 'old me'.

Hi, I've been taking Growth hormone for 20 yrs and like you I'm on quite a high dose of 0.9 now. Also relatively recently heard about oral oestrogen interfering but from what I've been told the dose is altered accordingly. My blood results are below normal but the last consultant I saw said they are not totally reliable and I think oestrogen also interfers with the blood tests.

With regards to energy levels fluctuating do have all your hormone levels checked. I don't know how recently you were diagnosed but my medication has been changed over the years. If I've been unwell with a cold etc. I do find it takes a while to fully recover, often feeling drained for weeks after. Having said that, if you've seen my previous post, in the last few years my energy levels have dropped possibly due to age, over 40 now!

Try not to worry and hope I've been of some help.
