Results from taking GH

Results from taking GH

Postby member_3144 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 4:06 pm

Hi all. I was just wondering what results you saw after taking growth hormone, what the most obvious results were and how long it took for you to feel those results. I am on GH and although I feel much better than being without I still feel there are some things that are quite slow in getting better. However I am Panhypopit and this could be the reason why i get fatigued/no energy etc a lot. I have never had anyone else who are on GH to talk to so it would be great to share stories. :)

I am also panhypopit and started on GH yesterday! Although both of us are panhypopit we may be very different from one another. However, it would still be interesting to compare notes. I have kept a diary of sorts since being in hospital for transphenoidal surgery in May. There is so much I would have forgotten about how I was feeling ......the ups and downs. I hope to continue to keep the diary to help my very poor memory remember when I am asked questions about how I am or have been over a period of time.
How long have you been on GH? It would be interesting to hear from others about how quickly they noticed any changes and what changed for them.
I realise that after such a long period of forced inactivity it will probably need some additional "building of fitness" programme to help me get back to a better place but I cannot at present invisage when I might be in a state to get started! What has been others experience?

Hi

I've been taking GH for about 16 years.

For the first 3 or 4 months, I honestly felt no different, but then I noticed that I felt like facing the day ahead; that feeling of looking forward to something and having the energy to do it. I felt more motivated, balanced and more confident ; soon after, I started to notice the physical effects - my body shape changing (around the middle) and I had stopped falling asleep in the day. My sleep patterns improved and I felt more able and willing to exercise.

I suffer from Panhypo and have been taking GH for over a year now with no noticeable improvements in my energy levels or anything else for that matter.
I think its true that as has been said before everyone is different. :)

Too true Bill everyone is different, i have been on GH since 2009 and i felt an immense amount of difference within weeks of starting the treatment, for me it was more noticeable with my confidence levels and as Pat says being able to stay awake during the day and feeling motivated and i could actually start looking people in the eyes again when talking to them not looking at the floor or over their shoulder mumbling away.

G.H was a wonder drug to me that brought me back to feeling like the old me before i got ill.

I have been on it for about 5 weeks now. I did use to take it years ago but I stopped. I am experiencing swollen fingers, headaches and I am sure it has caused me to gain weight. I am on 0.4mg and take it nightly. At the moment I feel like throwing in the towel, I do not feel any better, my water retention is worse and there is no sign of my body shape changing like other people have mentioned. I am aware that I havent been on it long, and I should give it more time, but as I am sure a lot of you know, when you feel awful and you take something and you still dont feel any better it does kind of get you down. Any words of comfort or any info on how GH affected you would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi member_3144,

I would be interested to know how you are doing now? Did you stick with it? I have been on GH now for nearly 4 months now, haven't seen a great deal of change as of yet either.

Been suffering from headaches for the last week or so. Will be good to hear from you.

A year on from my last post about GH and I'm afraid I'm still not feeling any benefit from it. My Endo says I will have to keep taking it anyway as I'm not producing any by myself. :(

I posted to the forum when I started on GH in February 2012 which was nearly nine months after transphenoidal surgery for a macro pituitary adenoma. The diary I have kept since then helps remind me of what has happened since!
I still feel that I have not struck the correct balance between the different medications. I still experience a range of life limiting symptoms and pain. However, within six weeks of starting the GH, I was very surprised and pleased to notice a great improvement in my strength. I was physically able to walk without having to consciously push myself, one leg at a time. I could also walk up an incline without having to be pushed from the back. So for me, I feel the GH has made a difference to my strength, therefore my ability to be active but I still experience the same pattern of pain that predates the GH with an added few aches and pains.
In my experience the frequency and methods of balancing the complexity of the 'whole picture' has been somewhat lacking and without coordination. In spite of the improvement after the GH, I feel I have fallen between a few stools and that there is still room for improvement if given an appropriate expert overview and 'tweaking' of medication.
